When people get sick, most of the time they need medication. providing prescription medications costs all depend on whether or not you have insurance coverage. If you do not have insurance coverage, the basic medication for a common cold could cost them hundreds of dollars. This is why there is such a huge market over there for over-the-counter medical prescriptions because they are cheaper and do not require a doctor's note.
The United Kingdom is completely different than the United States, and in a much better way. For instance, NHS healthcare is completely free, and we only have to pay around 7 pounds for any prescription, regardless of what it is. Free universal healthcare is second nature to us, but in some countries it is a dream that is unattainable.
The most basic needs in some countries go overlooked because people cannot afford the medical coverage or dispensing prescriptions. There most definitely needs to be a reform in some countries.
Cancer medication can skyrocket in countries that have to pay exorbitant amounts of dispensing fees. Some cancer medications can cost thousands of pounds for just a few months. In the UK, it does not matter if it is a cancer medication or cold medication, the dispensing fee is the same. Although, admittedly, the NHS is certainly applying some very unfair reigns on these medicines recently.
